Zimbabwe opposition to contest elections

Zimbabwe's main opposition said today it would take part in March's parliamentary elections.

Zimbabwe's main opposition said today it would take part in March's parliamentary elections.

"It is with a happy heart that the MDC has decided to participate in the elections," Movement for Democratic Change's spokesman Mr Paul Themba Nyathi told a news conference.

The MDC had threatened a boycott last year to protest at conditions it said favoured President Robert Mugabe's ruling party.
