In an editorial in last Saturday’s edition, Prof Ernest Walton was described as a Dubliner. He was born in Dungarvan, Co Waterford. Prof Walton’s colleague with whom he shared the Nobel Prize was Sir John Cockcroft.
An article in the edition of March 31st, concerning Supreme Court proceedings, omitted that Jonathan Owen, representing himself, said the High Court judge had examined all the evidence. The request to reopen the case was based, he said, on evidence never opened to the High Court. It would have been contested if it was, he said. The error occurred in the editing process.
