Sir, – Further to “Fines and inspections part of bid to keep cost of mica redress down” (Jennifer Bray, Analysis, June 22nd), surely a case of closing the stable door long after the horse has bolted. Curiously, the fines and inspections proposed will only apply to the victims and not to those who are responsible for what is turning out the most expensive fiasco of all time in the construction industry here.
And yet again of course those in power tell us “we must learn lessons and move on” while they arrange yet another horrendous burden on the taxpayers to cover the cost of their past failures and incompetence as legislators.
Surely it’s high time to shout stop to this carry-on, once and for all.– Yours, etc,
