Sir, – The repeated warnings form the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council regarding our dependence on corporation tax receipts are the equivalent of telling Lionel Messi that he is overly dependent on his left leg (Vivienne Clarke, “Fiscal council warns against using corporate tax for permanent spending hikes”, Business, July 5th).
Provided the proceeds from corporation tax are invested wisely in education and infrastructure then the tax take will continue to rise.
It is a problem which other countries would love to have. – Yours, etc,
