Sir, – Now that banks seem hell-bent on conducting most of their business with customers online, perhaps bank holidays should now be referred to as “call centre holidays” or “internet holidays”. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – It has long bothered me that we habitually refer to enjoyable public holidays as bank holidays. It’s time to bin the term, like Ulster Bank and KBC are binning us. – Yours, etc,
