Sir, – The former High Court president Peter Kelly said in his resignation statement: “I do not want this controversy to disrupt my future time in retirement” (“Peter Kelly makes ‘appropriate and sensible’ decision to resign as Dubai court judge following Frank Clarke’s resignation”, News, August 2nd).
I would have preferred to read that he has resigned as a judge of the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts because he has now become aware of the poor human rights record of the United Arab Emirates. – Yours, etc,
