Sir, – Reading the letter about coughing through the whole first act of a play, I was made aware of my different sensibilities to a situation like that.

I think the person who was coughing, pandemic or not, should have recognised after a few minutes that an exit was necessary and left the theatre. The people alongside would have been delighted to excuse them.

Handwaving seems an awkward method for such a simple thing as a walk from the building so that others might enjoy the play. – Yours, etc,
