Why burden young people?

Sir, – While I agree in principle that no one should have to work beyond the age of 66, the conversation surrounding increases in taxation to support this measure occurs at the same time as a complete lack of faith in government by young people has been highlighted.

Once again this Government seems poised to impose a burden on younger, working-age people to pay for something which they will not benefit from.

Where are the similar measures to reduce the cost of education, and housing – be it rented or owned – for younger people who simply cannot afford these things, but which were afforded to those now of retirement age?
