Voting rights and the diaspora

Disenfranchised

A chara, – Further to Richard Logue’s letter (November 5th), it should be noted that many Irish citizens living abroad already can and do vote by post in Seanad elections. These are the university graduates who vote for the TCD and NUI panels. Irish diplomatic staff living abroad enjoy even more rights and can vote in Dáil and presidential elections. All other Irish citizens living abroad are less privileged and fully disenfranchised. – Is mise,
