Sir, – I couldn’t agree more with Pat Mullen (Letters, December 13th), when he suggests that the practice of charging to enter recycling centres should be dropped. I pay for household collections of domestic waste and recycling bins.
Unfortunately glass bottles and jars are not allowed in the recycling bin. These have to brought to my local bottle bank which is situated inside the gates of Clonakilty recycling centre. There is an entry charge of €4 each time. It’s difficult to reconcile this with the campaign for a deposit return scheme. – Yours, etc,
