Sir, – May I take this opportunity to tell your golfing readers of a most unusual event regarding a very good friend of mine, who this year achieved an outstanding record by coming third in the golfer of the year contest in his club at Killenard, Co Laois. A total of 179 members played in the several competitions during the year but George O’Sullivan is 86 years old. Many of us hope to still be playing at that age. Well done. – Yours, etc,
