Sir, – I fully appreciate that all the charities are scrambling for funds and most particularly at this time of year. But I really object to the elaborate, glossy, expensive brochures that come through the post not just once but often twice from the same charity.
Some even send gifts of cards and cut-out decorations.
Surely the money spent on paper, printing and postage would be better used in helping the cause they are supporting.
There are many much cheaper ways to advertise for example on social media or simply by leaflet drops. And once a person has donated they have your email address and a follow-up email costs nothing.

Gordon D’Arcy: Standards fell short against Wales, but there will be little unrest as players look to France
Is it better to get paid weekly or monthly?
The overhead costs could be drastically reduced and the environment would benefit from the reduction in paper usage. – Yours, etc,
