Sir, – David Doran makes the reasonable point that private health work has a place in the Irish healthcare system but not in public facilities (Letters, December 28th).
But he might agree that drawing a very strict line between the two is difficult and even undesirable. Public patients were quite rightly given access to private hospital facilities during the Covid crisis. And we appear to be going down that road again to help deal with the current spate of respiratory illnesses. – Yours, etc
