Sir, – It is good to learn that 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of battery energy storage is connected to or planned for the Irish grid to support renewables (“Ireland’s lead role in battery storage needs fine tuning as renewables scale up”, Business, January 27th). Unfortunately it is difficult to assess the duration of any support during a wind lull without an energy rating, eg megawatt-hours (MWh) or gigawatt-hours (GWh). I would urge you to provide an energy as well as a power rating for what is, after all, an energy storage resource. – Yours, etc,
