Sir, – In reducing a loan of €9,528,411 to a mere €60,000 for a well-known ex-GAA player, AIB has given us conclusive proof that this is a great little country in which to do business (News, February 20th). When a mere mortal borrows €15,000 for some reason (buying a second-hand car, for example) and then cannot meet the repayments, no doubt AIB will come to the rescue and reduce the loan to a more manageable €94.45. – Yours, etc,
TJ BEATTY,
