A chara, – Tánaiste Micheál Martin says that the State is “without question’' turning the corner in the respect of new house builds.
The issue is simply that there are not enough new houses available.
Mr Martin has been in politics for a long long time, and one wonders does he really understand how desperate life is in the real housing market?
As someone who has been renting and trying to get on the housing market for many a year, I would unquestionably disagree with Mr Martin. If a house becomes available, which is a big ask, and which might have a reasonable price, you are greeted by long queues to view a property, and finally a huge bidding war which goes high above the asking price to try to get your own home.

It is a colossal issue, and blaming the pandemic, and inflation, for not building enough houses is the wrong track.
