Sir, – Surely following Finland’s membership of Nato, and others to follow, it is time for Ireland to take on similar international responsibility against regimes such as those in Russia. Proclaiming neutrality no longer holds water and is tantamount to supporting such regimes. We can no longer sit on the fence: the future of democracy, human rights, individual rights and the course of society itself depends on countries like Ireland sharing the burden ahead. – Yours, etc,
