Sir, – In response to Pat Mullen’s letter (April 23rd) regarding the diaspora and the turning off of the longwave radio frequency, what has failed to be mentioned up to this point is the licence fee, to which the diaspora does not contribute. With the current woes that exist in RTÉ surrounding funding, it’s justified for them to turn off an ageing and costly technology that provides a service to those who do not contribute to its cost. – Yours, etc,
