Sir, – I volunteer on the committee running the Irish centre in Liverpool. I’m grateful for the contribution that the Irish Government makes which helps the centre look after those who often had little option but to leave their homes in Ireland. I am, however, disappointed in the lack of effort made by RTÉ in respect of the switch-off of the long-wave service. I have not seen any attempt by it recently to engage, particularly with our elderly community. More could be done, at little cost, with proportionately great benefit to these people and the State. – Yours, etc,
