Sir, – This week I heard on a number of news bulletins the story of a child with severe scoliosis who waited five years for life-changing surgery (“Girl unable to breathe at times due to five-year wait for spinal surgery, report finds”, News, June 29th). However, I do not expect to hear of anyone being held to account for this by an Oireachtas committee. Shame on us. – Yours, etc,
