Sir, – More power to Darren Maguire’s elbow in his campaign against the phrase “coughing up” (Letters, July 8th). This ugly, inelegant term may be new in a GAA context but has been rampant for many years in reports on rugby matches, where teams constantly “cough up” possession. It’s time it was put to rest.– Yours, etc,
BILL REDMOND,
Edinburgh.
