Sir, – Reading Éanna Brophy’s Irishman’s Diary “Flexible friend – on the trail of a missing superhero” (August 24th) took me way back to the 1950s when, as a young boy, I cycled from one end of Athlone to the other swapping comics. Then spending a happy hour or so reading them. I remember in particular the smaller publications, running to some 50-odd pages, mostly war comics. Happy days. – Yours, etc,
