Sir, – Among the more than 600 names listed on your website as signatories to a letter from Irish academics and scholars about the war in the Gaza Strip published on November 4th was one “Garrett Deasy, Clifton School, Dalkey”. It is incredible to me that those who canvassed the signatories for this letter failed to realise that Deasy is a character in Joyce’s Ulysses and some vile anti-Semitic remarks are attributed to him in the Nestor episode. This is a prank in the worst possible taste. – Yours, etc,
