Turning back the clocks

Shared island

Sir, – Dr Alanis Cusack (Letters, November 23rd) calls for an end to the “rigmarole” of turning back the clocks as winter arrives, calling the practice “cruel and unusual punishment”, and “lunacy”.

That’s all very well, but should it be decided that it’s “time’s up” on daylight saving time here, and should the UK decide to continue its use, then living on this island would certainly become “cruel”, and “lunacy” would describe it very well. – Yours, etc,

PETER DECLAN O’HALLORAN,

Belturbet,
