Sir, – Having read Rosita Boland’s interview with Alanna Quinn Idris (“I am a strong person but this was very hard”, December 16th), I would like to congratulate this beautiful young woman on her strength, her courage and her bravery. I wholeheartedly agree that the sentences handed down to the boys who attacked Alanna, so viciously, are way too lenient. However, she should be proud of herself for speaking out, not just for herself but for so many other victims of crime, at such great personal cost to her own wellbeing. – Yours, etc,
