Sir, – I am writing to you following the birth of our son on Christmas Eve.
I would like to thank everyone at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin for their amazing care to my wife during her time here.
The catering staff, security officers, doctors, nurses, surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and particularly the midwives are an absolute credit to the hospital. The care and empathy of each midwife we dealt with were crucial along every step of the way.
Thank you to Eva and Vicky in the prenatal wing for their compassionate approach to everything they did, but a special thanks to Ciara in the delivery wing who went above and beyond during the most important moments.

My boyfriend’s parents are generally kind, loving people – but they keep spouting bigoted opinions
This profession is a crucial one to this country, and we need to retain as many of these amazing people in Irish hospitals by ensuring they are properly appreciated for what they do. –Yours, etc,
