A chara, – I believe that John Thompson’s letter (January 4th) defending data centres omitted the motivation factor.
The primary motivation for building data centres is to lower transaction cost while increasing profits for large corporations. The benefits for bank customers are a side-effect.
Just as if large corporations could make big profits from the treatment of sewage they might ship sewage to Ireland to store in the best sewage centres in the world. – Is mise,
