Covid inquiry and children

Impact of school closures and lockdowns

Sir, – Having read your article on the Government briefing on the upcoming Covid inquiry, I was amazed to find no mention at all of the word “children” (“Ireland’s Covid inquiry to adopt ‘no-blame’ approach”, News, January 25th). So, unless further information is to materialise, it seems there will be little or no scope for the inquiry to investigate the impact of the very long school closures and lockdowns on the youngest and most vulnerable in our society, and whether the severity of those restrictions could have been avoided or reduced. – Yours, etc,
