Sir, – As the years pass by, it looks like the proposed Metrolink, linking Dublin Airport to Dublin city centre, is as far away from completion as it has ever been. The potential budget for the project has also gone up in multiples. This is very frustrating and maybe it’s time to think outside the box to get this project up and running.
How about if we divert the Royal Canal to link it with the airport and then bring it into the city centre? We could license gondolas to take travellers on this new stretch of canal into the city.
This would be a low-cost, low-maintenance and environmentally friendly solution. It would also be a tourist attraction. – Yours, etc,
