A chara, – Jennifer O’Connell writes that the State needs to start facilitating downsizing for those that would consider it (“Downsizing is much easier to say than to do”, Opinion & Analysis, March 30th). In its housing and apartment complexes that are exclusively for those age over 55, South Dublin County Council reserves a number of units for those that wish to sell their private homes to the council at a discount, and then downsize to become social housing tenants.
