Sir, – Ed Power reaches for the superlatives in his review of Bruce Springsteen’s Croke Park concert (Music, May 19th). Quite right too.
But wait. Four stars? Really?
One wonders what the Boss has to do to earn a five-star rating. Complete his third encore, after three hours of blistering rock classics, poignant reflections on love, loss and the death of the American Dream, only then be borne heavenwards by a host of rock and roll loving angels, their voices raised in songs of praise?
Or perhaps your reviewer’s experience was dented by the chaos outside the stadium that delayed entry for many, only to be greeted on the pitch by 330ml cans of lager retailing at €7.50 each? – Yours, etc,
