Sir, – The new byline photographs of your male contributors do not show ties. Either an open-neck shirt and Adam’s apple are on display or the image is cropped just under the chin.

However, Mark Paul and Pat Leahy have recently escaped the tie embargo. Are their views seen to be reinforced or diminished by their neckwear? – Yours, etc,
