Biomethane strategy

Sir, – I note the launch of the Government’s policy strategy on biomethane (News, May 29th). A detailed document produced by dedicated, well-meaning, and hard-working public servants and private industry.

In my 30-plus years as a project and programme manager, I often used a simple formula, N(N-1)/2, to count the number of communication channels within my project or programme (with N equalling the number of project stakeholders). Ireland’s National Biomethane Strategy on page 44 refers to “Stakeholder Engagement” and mentions 38. The formula above yields 703 communication channels to be successfully managed. Surely a case of too much hot air? – Yours, etc,
