Sir, – I am delighted with the new bus services S6, S8 and especially the L25, which enable me, as a wheelchair user, to get to Dún Laoghaire, Blackrock, Stillorgan and Dundrum. However, I cannot understand Sunday or public holiday service restrictions, which curtail all these activities on days when friends and family are available to come with me. Surely in these days of trying to use cars less and public transport more, we should have more buses, not fewer! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – There were two major events in Dublin city on Sunday, the Bloom Festival in the Phoenix Park, and the Women’s Mini Marathon starting in Fitzwilliam Square, which on its own attracted a field of over 25,000. Organisers encouraged visitors to the former, and participants and their supporters to the latter, to avail of public transport to get to and from the events. The question is why did the Luas service run a normal Sunday service? I followed this advice and used the Luas. It was packed.
Is there anyone responsible for timetables in Luas or Dublin Bus who monitors potential increases in traffic at major events or does nobody really care? – Yours, etc,
