Concert cancelled

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – St Andrew’s Catholic church has every right to decide who can use its facilities (“Church cancels concert by Dublin Gay Men’s Chorus”, News, June 13th). Indeed, it has a responsibility to its congregation to uphold the Catholic Church’s teachings and policy regarding homosexuality, including the intrinsically evil nature of homosexual acts, the attempted exclusion of gay men from the priesthood, and opposition to equal civil marriage and parenting rights for same-sex couples. What is surprising is why any group representing gay men or indeed the wider LGBTQ community would want to have any association with an organisation that looks upon us with such disdain. – Yours, etc,

SÉAMUS WHITE,

Stoneybatter,

Dublin 7.
