Army and and serving personnel with convictions for violence

Sir, – Let’s not worry about the job prospects of members of the Irish Defence Forces who are convicted of violent offences (“Defence Forces review serving personnel with convictions for gender-based violence”, News, June 25th). Surely such a conviction would work as a reference for employment with the Wagner Group? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Fintan O’Toole’s analysis of our judicial system’s lenient treatment of violent men is as powerful a piece of writing as I have seen in The Irish Times in a long time (“Cathal Crotty’s suspended sentence another example of how judicial system is failing women”, Opinion & Analysis, June 25th).

This article should be mandatory reading for every politician and member of the judiciary in the country. – Yours, etc,
