Sir, – I have to concur with Minister for Finance Jack Chambers that the October budget will not be a “giveaway budget”, considering that proposed tax cuts of €1.4 billion for low-income and middle-income workers will only represent somewhere in the region of €10 per week in their pockets, hardly a bonanza.
But it has all the hallmarks of a runaway spending budget with an extra €6.9 billion allocated for public spending for 2025.
