Planning Bill is badly needed for vital infrastructure

Getting things done

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – The new planning Bill will give a Minister “carte blanche”, according to Senator Alice Mary Higgins (News, July 16th). I dearly hope so. We might then get projects to fruition in timescales of years and not decades. We are close to 20 years for the Metro North project, which everybody wants but which is still in the planning system, and we have not even begun the “judicial review” process. – Yours, etc,

EDWARD O’BOYLE,
