Multiple births and maternity leave

Having more than one baby at a time

Sir, – As a parent of twins, I am wondering why existing maternity, paternity, and parental leave schemes do not increase for multiple births. At present, we are entitled to the same leave as per a single child, as these schemes are per pregnancy rather than per birth. Am I wrong to think that having more than one baby at a time increases the amount of parenting and demands on parents, and that the schemes should reflect this? – Yours, etc,
