A chara, – Further to Thomas Ryan’s letter (August 27th), the Government’s plan to increase the minimum wage will have the convenient consequence of generating additional money for poorer workers to spend. The proposed rise of 6.3 per cent will lead to the 165,000 workers on the minimum wage earning an extra €1,622 a year. This amounts to €268 million in extra wages, most of which will find its way back into the economy. – Is mise,
