A chara, – Seán Moncrieff (Magazine, September 28th) seems to think that academics get a three-month holiday.
As a career academic, I have never had anything like that and nor do I know any colleagues in Ireland or elsewhere who have. It would, in fact, be a breach of my contract.
It is remarkable that Seán Moncrieff acquired a degree from UCD but managed not to learn how universities actually work. – Is mise,
