Sir, – David McWilliams states that “if Trump wins, we might find that being great craic and easy to like doesn’t cut muster” (“Why a Donald Trump election win could signal the end of Ireland’s golden years”, Opinion & Analysis, October 26th). I believe that the phrase is “pass muster”.
In any case, if Mr Trump does get in, it looks like we will be passing the mustard instead, metaphorically speaking of course. I hope that the above has not upset the “apple tart”. – Yours, etc,
