Sir, – I was fortunate enough while working from home on Wednesday to be canvassed by a current Cabinet Minister. I was asked for my “number one” or, failing that, for a “transfer”. For all of its faults, the electoral system in this country is still wonderfully personal and egalitarian when a person in high office must still come to our front door to seek our vote.
