Sir, – While I’m already well settled on my voting preferences for next week, after reading Justine McCarthy’s manifesto, I’m left disappointed that the deadline for candidates to enter the race for the 34th Dáil has passed (“Forget politicians’ pre-election promises – here’s my 10-point manifesto”, Opinion & Analysis, November 22nd).
Perhaps your columnist might consider the next Dáil election, or of course there’s always time to jump into the race for the 27th Seanad – considering her continued support for extending the Seanad franchise to everyone – or Ireland’s 10th president?
Both the Seanad and the Áras could benefit greatly from Justine McCarthy’s decency, values, vision and ideals. – Yours, etc,
TOMÁS HENEGHAN,
