Letter of the Day

Sir, – A couple of weeks ago I returned from a Camino trek in the south of Spain, the lesser known one from Murcia to the beautiful town of Caravaca de la Cruz.

Having done the Camino in the north of Spain last year, and having enjoyed (and endured) life in various hostels along the way, this time I decided to treat myself to small hotels for my accommodation.

The average price each night was €60. When I got back to Ireland I thought about visiting friends and relatives in Cavan town.

Checking out hotels, nothing was available for under €100.

In fact, you’d be lucky to get somewhere for €150. And that’s before breakfast and dinner.

My friends and relatives in Cavan? I think I’ll just phone them. – Yours, etc,

JOE McMINN,

Belfast,

Co Antrim.
