‘Fine tang’ of Dublin

A revenue-raising opportunity awaits to rebrand the smell of stale urine in the city

Letters to the Editor. Illustration: Paul Scott

Sir, – It should be pointed out that a revenue-raising opportunity awaits to rebrand the smell of stale urine in Dublin (Letters, April 29th) as part of an immersive Joycean experience on Bloomsday.

“First Stephen, then Bloom, in penumbra urinated,” we are told in Ulysses. Perhaps the “fine tang of faintly scented urine” could whet the appetite of tourists and natives alike to explore more of the city’s cultural heritage. – Yours, etc,

ULTAN Ó BROIN,

Blackrock,

Co Dublin.
