A chara, – Brian Walker (June 25th), writing from England, takes your paper to task, refers patronisingly to “the good people of Ireland” and makes the extraordinary claim that we have only one possible crowned head in mind whenever mention is made of a queen.
I write to you from France, where any mention of a queen is naturally accompanied by name and country, there are just too many queens to chose from. The list is quite long and includes Belgium, Holland, England, Spain, Norway and Sweden. Other than that, I myself come from North Louth, Táin Country, where any mention of a queen can only mean Queen Maeve of Connaught. – Is mise,
