Sir, – How are we to know which Denis Naughten it is that has expressed regret? Was it Minister for Communications Denis Naughten or was it the Not-Minister for Communications, the unrelated and unconnected, unadvised and uninformed Denis Naughten? Perhaps it was a joint statement.
I would suggest that when speaking in future that the public be advised as to which Denis Naughten is addressing them. – Yours, etc,
PHILIP CONNOLLY,
New Ross,
Co Wexford.
Sir, – There is little need to consult the ministerial conduct guidelines on this matter.
While Minister for Communications Denis Naughten has the right to express a personal opinion on, say, whether Galway will beat Mayo in this year’s championship, it should be obvious to him that he cannot express an opinion on a matter of policy under consideration in his own department, and then claim it to be a personal opinion. – Yours, etc,
PADDY GOGARTY,
Portmarnock,
Co Dublin.
