Sir, – In light of the multitude of charity envelopes inserted in our newspapers requesting Christmas donations, I wonder do the charities conduct a cost-benefit analysis of such appeals. Like most people, I have limited resources with which to make such donations. I find it sad that charities have to spend money on these appeals, many of which I am unable to respond to. However, if I were to win the elusive €19 million Lotto jackpot, well then, they are all welcome to a slice of it. – Yours, etc,
