Sir, – If evidence was needed that the silly season is with us, Tim O’Brien’s report (News Agenda, June 5th) that four Dublin councils are to consider imposing new tolls on the M50 in line with “demand management measures” is it. The M50 is used to ferry large volumes of commercial and private transport around Greater Dublin. If sanctioned, this money-making proposal will lead to heavy vehicles using minor roads and cause increased dangers to motorists and major tail-backs. – Yours, etc,
MICHAEL CULLEN,
Albert Park,
Sandycove, Co Dublin.
